In a normal day, what kinds of activities are you involved in?
As the Chief Strategic Officer at Business Core Solutions, my role is a dynamic fusion of strategy, creativity, and execution. Each day presents new challenges and opportunities, one moment, I am brainstorming growth strategies and exploring fresh market opportunities, and the next, engaging with clients, fostering partnerships, and fine-tuning marketing campaigns to elevate our global brand presence.
Being a People advocate, developing our brand, and corporate communications are at the core of what I do, ensuring BCS stands out in a competitive landscape thereby creating opportunities for individuals, especially from rural backgrounds, to grow and thrive.
What are the biggest challenges you face?
Being a CSO in a scaling organization comes with its fair share of challenges. Juggling strategic aspects of brand positioning, growth, and business development while figuring out the best way forward, can feel like building the plane while flying it! As a woman in leadership, I sometimes have to push a little harder to make sure my ideas and strategies gain traction, but I’m grateful for the supportive environment that encourages bold thinking.
What would be the proudest or most enjoyable moment in your career?
When I think about what truly makes me proud, it’s every time a woman chooses BCS to build her career. This isn’t just about a moment or a milestone—it’s about a dream I had back in 2019 when I joined BCS after my career break. I wanted to share this space for women to start or restart their careers, no matter the challenges they faced.
Fast forward to today, and what started with just one woman in 2019 has grown to 88 in 2025, with plans to cross 150+ by the end of this year! Watching this vision come to life while has been incredible. It’s more than just numbers—it’s about building opportunities, breaking barriers, and lifting each other up.
And we’re just getting started!
What advice would you give to a woman wanting to get into a similar career or role?
Believe in yourself and take the leap! You don’t need to have all the answers—just start, learn as you go, and own your journey. Surround yourself with the right people, embrace challenges, and most importantly, never underestimate yourself and be a Motivator.
In terms of the future of your role, what do you think will be the most interesting aspect/s?
The most exciting aspect of my role moving forward would be driving our purpose and positioning Business Core Solutions as a leader in transforming business operations through our cutting-edge solutions and creating opportunities that make a meaningful impact on the community.
Balancing market challenges while staying true to our purpose and values will be both dynamic and rewarding. The journey ahead is filled with possibilities, and I am eagerly looking forward to it.

I have several, but do I love watching people grow, (especially those who have some self doubt), into a role through hard work and determination and to see them achieve their goals is so incredibly rewarding, and secondly to come out the other end of very difficult change through persistence, patience and being there for each other.
What advice would you give to a woman wanting to get into a similar career or role?
Find yourself a great mentor who really has your back and wants to see you develop and grow. Emma Barr
In a normal day, what kinds of activities are you involved in?
As a Senior Architect Advisor at SAP, my days are fast-paced and filled with solving complex business challenges. I work closely with customers to craft technology strategies that drive real impact, ensuring they harness the full potential of SAP—especially with SAP Business AI. Whether it's designing innovative solutions, running strategy workshops, or collaborating with internal teams, every day brings new opportunities to push the boundaries of what's possible. Staying ahead of emerging technologies is a key part of my role, allowing me to help businesses not just keep up, but lead the way in their industries. What are the biggest challenges you face?
One of the biggest challenges is bridging the gap between business expectations and technical feasibility. Many organisations want to innovate quickly, but balancing speed, scalability, and integration complexity can be tricky.
Another challenge is change management—ensuring that teams adopt new technologies effectively rather than just implementing them.
What would be the proudest or most enjoyable moment in your career?
What truly excites me is seeing that 'ah-ha' moment in design thinking workshops—when customers realise how SAP technology can fundamentally transform their business. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch their perspective shift as they connect the dots between strategy and innovation. But the real highlight is seeing those ideas come to life—when a customer moves from concept to execution and starts seeing real results. Whether it’s streamlining operations, unlocking new revenue streams, or enhancing customer experiences, knowing that I played a part in their success is what makes this role so fulfilling.
What advice would you give to a woman wanting to get into a similar career or role?
Don’t be afraid to take up space and voice your expertise. The tech industry is evolving, and diverse perspectives are more valuable than ever. Find mentors, stay curious, and continuously build your knowledge—especially in AI and emerging technologies. Most importantly, believe in yourself.
In terms of the future of your role, what do you think will be the most interesting aspect/s?
AI-driven transformation will be one of the most exciting aspects. The role of an architect is shifting from just designing systems to enabling intelligent, adaptive solutions that anticipate business needs. I also see a growing emphasis on sustainability and ethical AI, which will shape how we architect future enterprise solutions.

Sreetama Bhattacharya
In a normal day, what kinds of activities are you involved in?
On a typical day, I engage in a variety of activities that drive both client success and internal growth. My day starts with client meetings, where I collaborate with leadership teams to navigate challenges, address risks, and ensure projects remain on track. I then participate in internal project meetings, coordinating with both onshore and offshore teams to review project progress and financial health. Our SAP HCM practice meetings are crucial, as they allow us to assess the status of our local and global assets, ensuring all projects are healthy and on target.
Additionally, I work on the HCM pipeline, spearheading solution design and testing while supporting proposals for new opportunities. These activities not only keep me deeply involved in our current projects but also position us for future growth and success.
What are the biggest challenges you face?
The biggest challenges I encounter revolve around resourcing and project management. Balancing onshore and offshore resources can be tricky, especially when faced with unplanned leaves or ad hoc requests. To address this, I've implemented a flexible resource allocation plan that allows for quick adjustments and cross-training team members to ensure coverage. Scope creep is another hurdle, requiring constant vigilance to ensure projects remain within their defined boundaries. I tackle this by establishing clear project charters and regularly reviewing project scope with stakeholders to reaffirm commitments and manage changes proactively.
Managing client expectations is also critical; it involves clear communication and setting realistic goals. I ensure this by conducting regular check-ins and using detailed project timelines and deliverables to keep everyone aligned. Finally, with multiple projects and stakeholders competing for attention, effective prioritization is essential to maintain focus and deliver results. I use project management tools to prioritize tasks based on urgency and impact and hold weekly strategy meetings with my team to assess priorities and adjust plans as necessary. These solutions help me navigate the challenges while maintaining project health and fostering strong client relationships.
What would be the proudest or most enjoyable moment in your career?
One of the proudest moments in my career was the successful go-live with a mid-market EC&O organisation for SAP HCM. Last year, we rolled out Core HR, Recruitment, Onboarding and Payroll for over 920 employees in SAP SuccessFactors, with plans to complete the rest i.e. an additional 600+ by FY25. This achievement was particularly rewarding because it involved overcoming significant challenges, including scope creep, complex EBA requirements and resource management.
Collaborating with the customer and SAP, we delivered 40+ change requests and built a complex T&A interface, significantly improving the payroll process. Their payroll team now spends half the time on payroll prep and processing compared to their legacy system. This success not only solidified our relationship with the customer adding further opportunities in our pipeline but also laid the groundwork for a customer success story with SAP and PwC.
What advice would you give to a woman wanting to get into a similar career or role?
For women aspiring to enter this field, I recommend honing multitasking skills and staying abreast of technological changes. It's crucial to do what's necessary to meet client needs and proactively share new features with them. Going above and beyond for clients not only builds trust but also strengthens professional relationships. In stressful situations, maintaining calm and composure is key. Finally, it's important to celebrate and share your successes—promote your achievements and share lessons learnt internally and on platforms like LinkedIn to amplify your impact and inspire others. This is something I’m training myself to complete after each successful implementation or win. It’s always good to celebrate the achievements of the individual and teams.
In terms of the future of your role, what do you think will be the most interesting aspect/s?
Looking ahead, I am excited about the increased engagement with SAP to advance our go-to-market strategy and foster stronger relationships with PwC HCM partners. Enhancing our external branding through initiatives like HCM webcasts with SAUG, MasteringSAP events, sharing customer success stories in SAP events like SuccessConnect will be pivotal. Internally,
I am focused on implementing a 90-day growth plan for the practice and organising more 'lunch and learn' sessions to share insights on HCM assets. Additionally, I look forward to expanding our client base, applying our learnings to win more mid-market and large enterprise customers, and driving continuous improvement in our service offerings.

In a normal day, what kinds of activities are you involved in?
My day is mostly split between planning, collaborating or communicating. I prioritize the backlog, update the product roadmap, refine user stories, run demos of proposed solutions, and collaborate with designers, architects and developers to ensure the product vision aligns with business goals. It's an equal mix of listening to people/ feedback and making data-driven decisions to create value.
What are the biggest challenges you face?
I am the Product Manager across approx. 17 SAP applications. Being ...... continually challenged. I need to constantly remind myself that my role is to balance the macro with the micro - keeping the clarity of why we are doing what we are doing in the face of challenges and feedback. Making sure we are prioritising the right enhancements at the right time and needing to be pragmatic when there are time or resource constraints. At times our team or customers can deliver feedback in quite an emotive way when there is frustrations , the challenge can be to remove the emotional aspect of the way the feedback is delivered to then enable you to really drill down and understand what the core challenge(s) is to go away and see how this could be improved and to never take it personally when feedback is delivered. What would be the proudest or most enjoyable moment in your career?
Being promoted to the role of Product Manager – Store Solutions, and being a part of the biggest transformation that Mitre 10 is going through. When we demonstrate new or enhanced solutions that enable our team members to deliver exceptional service to our customers validates that what we do makes a difference. I love the fact that all my roles that I have done throughout my career with Mitre 10 have allowed me to spend time with both team members and customers to really understand how we can develop solutions that can improve the way they work.
My objective as a Product Manager is ‘as a team member, don't make me look like an idiot in front of our customers' meaning we don't ever want to build a solution that sets up our in-store team members to fail or make them feel like they don't have or don't know where to source the information to serve their customers. Our members put a lot of trust in us to provide the best solutions that we can to enable our stores to run their business.
What advice would you give to a woman wanting to get into a similar career or role?
Don't under value your worth and what your unique experience and background can bring to the role and don't compare yourself to others and their journey, everyone has travelled a different path to get where they are. Work for a company that you are passionate about and that enables you to grow with their business and continually develop. I don't come from a tech background;all my experience has been gained from working in our stores and really understanding how our stores operate. I started my journey with Mitre 10 in a small building in a timber yard in Queenstown pricing building projects for our customers. I learnt and took on more responsibilities before transferring to a larger MEGA store in an entirely different market in Auckland. I worked across multiple roles within our stores gaining loads of experience before moving to the Mitre 10 Support Centre and continuing in diverse roles here, Be absolutely open to learning. Over the last few years, I have invested in hands-on, project-based learning – BCITO building qualifications, Level 3 & 4 retail management papers and Product Owner qualifications, all with the support of Mitre 10. It means I can apply real world experience when designing solutions and have walked the walk of our team to understand their challenges and how we can look to better understand and continually look for opportunities to develop. I can apply empathy in the challenges our team face day to day in their roles.
In terms of the future of your role, what do you think will be the most interesting aspect/s?
We are still very early in our deployment of SAP solutions across Mitre 10. I'm looking forward to deploying our SAP and GK PoS solutions out to more of our stores, seeing how our team and customers use these solutions, and work through the feedback from our team to continually deliver solutions that bring real value to the way they work.

Working as part of a team to support internal Customers to enable their global business objectives, through process and data improvements, together with technology enablement. Finding innovative ways to automate processes to become errorless and touchless.
What are the biggest challenges you face?
Without having a high quality two to three year Business and enabling Technology Roadmap (outlining prioritised initiatives, quarter by quarter), I believe unnecessary and expensive challenges are introduced, i.e. ad hoc technology requests from numerous stakeholders, not aligned to business objectives, low priority/value, possibly negating each other, result in start/stop approach as perceived higher value ad hoc requests are raised. A collaborative Roadmap is the answer to avoid this challenge, with light governance to manage changes/exceptions.
What would be the proudest or most enjoyable moment in your career?
Proudest career moment was a 2 year secondment to New York to head up a large global transformation, including ERP implementation and shared services. Most enjoyable moments are working for Leaders who are results orientated and have a good balance of care, courage and curiosity.

I work with a lot of SAP customers, offering guidance on innovative business and technical solutions to maximize the value of their SAP investments and achieve their strategic goals. By listening to each customer's strategic objectives and current challenges, I translate how SAP software can be effectively leveraged to address their specific needs. Drawing on the SAP North Star Reference Architecture and my different industry experience across various transformation programs, I help envision a desirable future state and develop a comprehensive roadmap to achieve it. My role involves working with customers throughout the delivery of their transformation programs and offering ongoing guidance for continuous improvement. I frequently conduct workshops and collaborative sessions, translating complex technical concepts into clear business language to facilitate understanding and drive success.
What are the biggest challenges you face?
The biggest challenge I face is establishing clear boundaries between my personal and work life. I'm deeply committed to helping our customers achieve success and resolve their issues. However, as a single mum, my young daughter is my top priority when she needs my attention. As a Senior Manager at Accenture with a dedicated focus on SAP Fieldglass each day is different where I balance client-facing and internal tasks. I might support with specific actions responding to current RFPs, ensuring our proposals meet client needs and seeking opportunities for us to engage customers on their External Workforce needs. Preparation for technical demonstrations of Fieldglass, ensuring a smooth, impactful experience, demonstrating our knowledge and expertise in the VMS space. Ideating on webinars topics to raise customer awareness and share valuable insights on how Accenture can support customers to realise benefits when managing their external workforce. Of course, working on customer projects, engaging with SAP, and sharing insights and expertise internally. What are the biggest challenges you face?
For me I find it challenging when solutions sought and, often offered are not best in class. This can be for a variety of reasons including lack of education, lack of funding or even just being stalled in old methods.
What would be the proudest or most enjoyable moment in your career?
I have been lucky enough to experience many enjoyable moments since beginning my career in tech - but if I were to categorise them, they'd look something like:
* Building an incredible network of colleagues and peers across the globe who share an interest in the External Workforce and all things non-permanent workforce
* Bringing customers who are challenged along on the journey and seeing them come out the other side as a team who is engaged and now a supporter of the journey and, of course, outcome
* Seeing those individual lightbulb moments during enablement sessions where Fieldglass and the process all suddenly makes sense
* Handing over my first SAP Fieldglass project!
What advice would you give to a woman wanting to get into a similar career or role?
There is every chance that your path is not going to look the way you might expect, or the same as your colleague. Take it from an ex-ice skater & ballerina who spent a decade in the recruitment industry.
Be curious every day, be willing to take some risks and give everything your all.
Spend time building foundational knowledge - understanding the problems that can be solved with technology will bring benefits to your engagements both with your peers and customers.
Develop strong communication skills - learn how to listen to your customers and give relevant advice.
Build your network - across the organisation you work in and outside of it.
Find those mentors and allies who can guide, support and champion you.
But know your worth and believe in yourself. Stay persistent and confident.
In terms of the future of your role, what do you think will be the most interesting aspect/s?
Having joined Accenture fairly recently, the most interesting aspect for me is to being more involved with our customers and helping them to explore their External Workforce needs and the solutions that we can deliver for them.

- Managing the design and development of our methodology, assets and accelerators that we leverage to enhance our clients' SAP migration journeys.
What are the biggest challenges you face?
The late night calls! Australia is not the most time friendly time zone for global projects. However, the passion and commitment from those that I work with more than makes up for it.
What would be the proudest or most enjoyable moment in your career?
Being invited by SAP to talk on a panel at Sapphire in Orlando (2024) about how our RISE certified methodology drives value for our clients.

Amanda Williamson
In a normal day, what kinds of activities are you involved in?
My role as the SAP business group at Accenture varies on a day to day basis, but is always centered around our clients and bringing the best of Accenture to them. We work on ensuring our clients have the best SAP solutions and the best team to deliver for them to ensure they get value from their investments.
What are the biggest challenges you face?
Time and priorities. I think the concept of work / life balance in any every day context has done us all a disservice. Sometimes I will focus on work and sacrifice something at home;and sometimes I need to focus on home and might have to sacrifice at work. All I can do is be transparent to everyone around me. We are all dealing with many priorities and being open and honest about it helps us understand each other and ultimately help each other when required.
What would be the proudest or most enjoyable moment in your career?
There are many - but I hope the best is still yet to come. What advice would you give to a woman wanting to get into a similar career or role?
Say yes for a while. When you are growing up and even into your early 20's, people are always asking "what to you want to do". How could you even know at that age. So, my advise is to say yes to opportunities - and whilst you might not find want you want to do, you can at least work out what you don't want to do. Eliminate some options, whilst getting some valuable experience.
In terms of the future of your role, what do you think will be the most interesting aspect/s?
We are at an interesting point in consulting. We've been focused on the economics of offshoring work, to the point that much of the learning ground, roles and support systems for graduates and analysts in their first 5 years are disappearing. They still exist, but not of the same volume that many of us experienced in our early career.
I believe most of us are kinesthetic leaners and we need to find better support systems to ensure the new generation have a safe and supported path into their early career years. I really want to find like minded clients and communities who also recognize that need and will trade off some of the economic advantages of offshore to the societal advantages of a supportive, learning environment on projects for our next generation.

Thought leadership, speaking at events, hosting CFO roundtables, working with our customer CFO's, supporting the early part of a sales cycle and customer roadmap development - my role is often about building a vision and that also means introducing new or improved solutions, AI, and product roadmap evolution into the equation.
What are the biggest challenges you face?
Whatever the motivating factors are for change, sometimes seeing and believing future vision can be challenging and in some cases, can seem impossible. Some of my role is about providing confidence that change is achievable, done through a combination of my experience, and notable progression other customers have made and the value they have realised.
What would be the proudest or most enjoyable moment in your career?
I have won the SAP MD award twice, I have won awards for two projects for outstanding work. Whilst I don't implement SAP any longer, I also implemented the first S/4HANA project in the world 9 years ago. It's been amazing to watch the solution continually evolve and improve and I take great pride in helping our customers to see and realise the benefits that brings, though I hope my proudest moment is yet to come.
What advice would you give to a woman wanting to get into a similar career or role?
Don't underestimate how challenging it is to be successful as a female in this industry/eco system and what tenacity it takes. Know your subject matter better than anyone else, and stick to the facts whenever possible. The male ego is a delicate thing and it will present many challenges along the way.
In terms of the future of your role, what do you think will be the most interesting aspect/s?
The software industry moves so quickly these days, perhaps the most interesting aspect of the future of my role, is that it is not so clear to see, or clear to see from a distance as it once was what the future really looks like. I'm a naturally curious individual and I enjoy the advancements technology affords us all, so this is a very exciting era to be part of something that changes the way we all work for the better.

In a normal day, what kinds of activities are you involved in?
My role is predominantly in operations, works management space. I would like to think my day is dynamic and impactful from setting standards to mentoring and training.
Mentoring & Training: Empowering teams to confidently use SAP in alignment with work management processes.
Process Management: Managing PM changes, setting up functional location structures, and maintenance strategies for new future energy sites.
Collaboration: Engaging with stakeholders, user acceptance testing (UAT), all to ensure our assets are maintained to a high standard.
System Alignment & Enhancement: Aligning SAP with work management processes and assisting in system enhancements.
Continuous Improvement: Preparing for the S4/HANA upgrade and providing both online and in-person SAP training.
What are the biggest challenges you face?
I face unique challenges working in a predominantly male environment, where I often have to prove my capabilities and work twice as hard to gain trust. Our teams on-site consist of long-standing veterans who have experienced many changes in IT systems, which sometimes leads to frustration and resistance, particularly towards SAP.
A significant part of my job involves helping these teams understand that the issues they face are not with SAP itself but rather with how it is implemented and managed. Especially when SAP often becomes the scapegoat for any frustrations, my goal is to build relationships, provide continuous support and training, and communicate clearly to shift their perspectives and ensure they feel confident and empowered using SAP.
What would be the proudest or most enjoyable moment in your career?
I began my SAP career 18 years ago, a little later in life, but I saw an opportunity and seized it. For the first eight years, I worked 70 hours a week, teaching myself SAP and learning from experts in Germany during late evening sessions due to the time difference. Soon enough, I became the go-to person for all things SAP. However, I felt underappreciated and underpaid. Then, out of the blue, another company recognized my efforts and offered me a position that doubled my salary, effectively launching my SAP career.
I take great pride in how far I have come and in my current role, where I can visibly see the positive impact of my work. I feel both appreciated and respected. As a single mother left to raise two young children on my own, In my wildest dreams I never imagined that I would achieve this level of success.
What advice would you give to a woman wanting to get into a similar career or role?
As a young person, I never thought to myself, "One day I want to be an SAP Specialist." In fact, I had no idea what I wanted to be when I grew up. Despite having limited opportunities, I tried many different career paths, working my way up. My family could not afford for me to study after school, and changing continents fairly late in life did not help. But I found my passion—SAP. I love it, and I am good at it.
Don't waste time;get in as soon as you can. Find out who you are, the sooner the better! I am living proof that it's never too late. It's not just about SAP but the like-minded people you will engage with. It opens roads you never imagined existed. If you have a passion for HR, there is a place for you;if your passion is finance, there is a place for you;if your passion is maintenance and operations, there is a place for you. The possibilities are endless. If you have the opportunity, seize it!
In terms of the future of your role, what do you think will be the most interesting aspect/s?

Additionally, the focus on digital transformation will involve incorporating new technologies like AI and machine learning, further streamlining our processes and improving user experience.

In a normal day, what kinds of activities are you involved in?
As the Network & Field Application Manager, my daily activities revolve around a mix of strategic planning, system management, team leadership, and stakeholder collaboration. I oversee both SAP and non-SAP applications to ensure optimal performance, manage a team of functional specialists, and work closely with business stakeholders to align technology with operational needs.
What are the biggest challenges you face?
Some of the key challenges I face in my role include:
* Balancing Strategic and Operational Demands: Managing long-term technology roadmaps while also resolving immediate operational issues.
* Managing Stakeholder Expectations: Ensuring alignment between IT capabilities and business needs, especially in a dynamic environment.
* Talent Acquisition & Development: Building a high-performing team while addressing skill gaps.

Lauren Walsh
In a normal day, what kinds of activities are you involved in?
My day is a mix of problem-solving, collaboration, and strategy. I work closely with Information Systems on integrations, manage a team, and partner with different areas of the business to implement their training and compliance requirements. I oversee the day-to-day management of our SAP SuccessFactors module, ensuring it effectively supports compliance and workforce readiness. A big part of my role involves identifying opportunities for automation and innovation, leveraging SuccessFactors to improve compliance, productivity, and safety. I also support reporting needs and equip teams with the tools they need to make informed compliance decisions. No two days are ever the same!
What are the biggest challenges you face?
One of the biggest challenges is driving successful change in a complex environment. Implementing new technology isn’t just about having the best system, it’s about ensuring people adopt and trust it. Balancing innovation with real-world practicality is crucial, especially in a high-risk, heavily regulated industry where compliance is non-negotiable. Driving change in a male-dominated, site-based environment requires credibility, clear communication, and strong relationships to ensure successful adoption. It’s not just about rolling out a new tool;it’s about making sure it integrates seamlessly into existing workflows and genuinely makes people’s jobs easier.
What would be the proudest or most enjoyable moment in your career?
One of my proudest moments was delivering the compliance document app. It was a completely new solution, and we had to navigate a lot of unknowns, working closely with SAP and our vendor, Dalrae Solutions, to build something that genuinely made compliance easier for workers. Seeing it successfully roll out, knowing it reduced administrative burden and improved accuracy, was incredibly rewarding.
The project was also recognised with an SAP ANZ Best Run Award for Industry Disruptor, which was a proud moment for the team.
More broadly, I enjoy seeing the tangible impact of the solutions I help implement, whether that’s improving efficiency, strengthening compliance, or contributing to safer and more sustainable ways of working
What advice would you give to a woman wanting to get into a similar career or role?
Back yourself. You don’t need to have all the answers, be curious, ask questions, and focus on solving real problems. Build strong relationships, especially with technical teams, and learn to bridge the gap between business needs and system capabilities. If you’re working in a male-dominated industry, one of the best things you can do is find your male allies, those who respect your expertise and will advocate for you when you’re not in the room. Surround yourself with people who champion your success, and don’t be afraid to take up space. Your perspective is valuable, and the industry benefits from diverse voices at the table.
In terms of the future of your role, what do you think will be the most interesting aspect/s?
The increasing role of AI and automation in compliance and workforce management is exciting. There’s so much potential to streamline processes while improving accuracy and safety. I also see a growing focus on user experience, how we make technology feel effortless for workers in the field. As businesses continue to navigate digital transformation, the challenge will be ensuring innovation is both practical and scalable.

Helene Young
In a normal day, what kinds of activities are you involved in?
Majority of my daily activities is within the Asset Management space of SAP S/4HANA.
I provide system support to the organisation, mainly assisting maintenance and outage staff as well as external contractors. I also handle system access requests and provide user training. However, the part I enjoy the most is identifying areas for improvement, whether it involves process changes or system enhancements. I facilitate these changes by identifying needs, setting requirements, testing, and change management. I take great pleasure in improving processes to increase efficiency and reduce user frustration whenever possible.
What are the biggest challenges you face?
Striking the appropriate balance between customisation and standard functionality can be quite challenging. Particularly when an organisation identifies an area for improvement and is requesting customisation to a system, even though a process change might suffice. In my experience organisations find it easier to modify systems than to alter established behaviours. Advocating for process changes over system customisations to leadership can be tough but is sometimes necessary in roles like mine.
What would be the proudest or most enjoyable moment in your career?
I find it challenging to speak in front of unfamiliar people, I get very nervous right before my turn in meetings and right before delivering training to a group of people. I have always been intrigued by the people who are able to stand up and speak with confidence and with impact in front of large crowds. I would often think “I could never do that!”.
When I was presented with the opportunity to face my fears and speak at large national conferences last year, I didn’t hesitate. And I am proud of having successfully delivered presentations last year at SAUG National Summit in Sydney and Mastering SAP Connect event at the Gold Coast.
What advice would you give to a woman wanting to get into a similar career or role?
These insights were very enlightening for me, and I hope they are beneficial to you as well:
- Do not hesitate to apply for a position even if you feel underqualified. Chances are if you meet all the criteria listed, you'll be overqualified for the role.
- Do not be reluctant to highlight your strengths;present your positive attributes with confidence.
- Utilise all available free online training resources to enhance your skills.
In terms of the future of your role, what do you think will be the most interesting aspect/s?
One of the interesting aspects of my role in the future will likely be the ongoing evolution in the field of technology. Being adaptable to change will be crucial in my position, as one system may be implemented only to be replaced by another in the future. System upgrades may lead to process modifications, and organisational changes may necessitate adjustments to system configurations.
It is important to embrace change and find value in continuous learning to excel in my role. In the more recent future of my role, I am eager to explore more advanced in-app support functionalities.

Marissa Shipley
In a normal day, what kinds of activities are you involved in?
No two days are the same and this is really a hard question for me to answer. I have reflected on this question a lot as no two days are the same being the CEO of a services business as well as the CEO of a software business. My day involves engaging with clients, collaborating on product development, and advocating for diversity in the tech industry. I dedicate time to mentoring young professionals and focusing on strategic planning for CompliantERP and CERPASS. In the evening, I unwind with family and hobbies to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
What are the biggest challenges you face?
One of my greatest challenges has been navigating the tech industry as a neurodiverse woman. This path is fraught with obstacles, as it often feels like being on the outside looking in. The unique perspectives and ideas I bring can sometimes be met with resistance or misunderstanding. Many times, I've faced situations where I was shut down for talking too much or for presenting ideas that others deemed unconventional or "crazy."
The turning point came when I decided to embrace my neurodiversity openly. Rather than hiding or compensating for it, I chose to be transparent about my experiences and how they shape my approach to problem-solving and innovation. This openness has not only helped me find my authentic voice but has also allowed others to appreciate the value of diverse thinking.
By fostering an environment of inclusivity and understanding, I've been able to transform this challenge into a strength, driving my commitment to empower others facing similar hurdles. This journey has taught me that embracing one's uniqueness can lead to greater innovation and success, bearing fruit in both personal growth and professional achievements.
What would be the proudest or most enjoyable moment in your career?
I decided to reflect on the last 12 months to answer this question. In the past 12 months, I have achieved remarkable milestones that reflect my dedication and impact in the tech industry.
Firstly, being invited to address the 2024 graduates at the University of Queensland Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Graduation Ceremony as the guest speaker was a significant honour and a testament to my influence and expertise in the field.
Secondly, I received prestigious accolades, including the Entrepreneur of the Year Award and the SAP Solutions CEO of the Year Award. These awards highlight my dedication, leadership, innovation, and commitment to driving CompliantERP and CERPASS forward.
Lastly, being named a Fellow of the Australian Computer Society (ACS) recognises my contributions to the tech industry and my commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity. This fellowship is a significant honour and underscores the importance of my work in fostering a more inclusive tech community.
These achievements underscore my dedication, hard work, and the positive impact I strive to make in the tech industry. These achievements are significant as they reflect my dedication to breaking barriers and driving progress in the tech industry. Addressing the 2024 graduates at the University of Queensland Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Graduation Ceremony as the guest speaker was a profound honour. It recognised my influence and provided a platform to inspire the next generation of tech professionals. Winning the Entrepreneur of the Year Award and the SAP Solutions CEO of the Year Award highlights my commitment to innovation, leadership, and the growth of CompliantERP. These accolades underscore the impact of my work and the importance of inclusivity and technological advancement. Being named a Fellow of the Australian Computer Society (ACS) is a testament to my contributions to the tech industry and my advocacy for diversity and inclusivity. This fellowship is a significant honour that acknowledges my efforts to create a more inclusive tech community.
PS - just this week I have been named a finalist for the Disability Impact Award for the Women Changing the World Global Awards 2025.

In terms of the future of your role, what do you think will be the most interesting aspect/s?
I have big plans for the future. My "big picture" vision is to globally create a tech industry that is inclusive, diverse, and innovative. I aspire to empower women and neurodiverse individuals by providing them with opportunities, mentorship, and support, allowing them to thrive in technology roles.
I envision a future where inclusivity is at the core of technological advancement. By fostering an environment that values diverse perspectives, we can drive innovation and create solutions that cater to a wider range of needs. This approach not only benefits the tech industry but also contributes to a more equitable and just society.
Through CompliantERP and CERPASS Software, I aim to continue developing cutting-edge SAP security solutions that prioritise compliance and inclusivity. Our products, like CERPASS®, are designed to set new standards in audit readiness and risk management, ensuring that businesses operate with integrity and transparency.
Ultimately, my goal is to leave a lasting legacy by making a significant impact on the tech industry and inspiring future generations to pursue their passions, regardless of the challenges they may face.

I lead a highly recognised team of technical consultants delivering a broad range of outcomes for our varied customer base. We work in a unique space, specialising in leveraging SAP data to deliver org structure insights, Machinery of Government Changes and responding to the constant demand of organisational change.
A large part of my role is to ensure our customers experience the values we incorporate as a team in our day to day. We are explorers, constant learners and thrive on solving critical issues facing HR and Org Design teams. We do this through efficiency and transparency, whilst enjoying witnessing the tangible results of our work. We are also well versed in expecting the unexpected, no matter how much we plan out our days!

I also get to work with some pretty great people every day in a fun and calm environment that truly embrace work life balance.
What advice would you give to a woman wanting to get into a similar career or role?
Ensure you have a mentor (not your manager), someone who can help guide your career path with advice from their lived experience, trust me its invaluable.
If that's not possible, soak up the online education, resources and support that is now so wonderfully available to women in tech. We have come a long way and yes, some days it does feel like there's a heap more to do, but our network is strong and supportive. Just reach out and you'll see for yourself.

Given I am wearing two 'hats', my week involves juggling and balancing the competing priorities each role entails.
Not sure any day is normal, this is certainly something I love about working in this industry and with our customers. Let's go with this as a normal day, I maybe involved in a Presales Solution demo where I am presenting and highlighting the value in our solutions to a prospect or existing customer, working with a customer on ensuring they have upgraded to the latest release, status joint impact plan meeting with existing customer project, preparing a statement of work for training schedule or consulting delivery, booking in functional scoping sessions, updating solution articles, planning and arranging Customer Days, coaching and mentoring Consulting team, recruiting consultants, developing documentation and processes
What are the biggest challenges you face?

Different people and their differing understanding of the system. Some people are very quick to pick it up, whilst others require assistance and are slow to change.
What would be the proudest or most enjoyable moment in your career?
Winning the women in SAP scholarship from Mastering SAP! Not only did I get to meet so many women in the industry but I got to listen to their stories and experiences too.
Working on a project involving an app that integrates assessments and SuccessFactors. Though I joined late, seeing it thrive and watching the usage grow has been very rewarding. I am so proud to see the change in our trainers and their use of the technology as well as the shift to an electronic system.

Always varied. It could be motivating and encouraging our team, dealing with a technical problem, solving a HR issue, helping our sales team with strategic account planning, meeting with our customers, planning a marketing campaign, or engaging our partners.
What are the biggest challenges you face?
Focus and Prioritisation. There are numerous areas of opportunity and growth, however without a dedicated focus on the right activities it is easy to be 'busy and productive' but not necassarily on the right areas. What advice would you give to a woman wanting to get into a similar career or role?
Take every opportunity you can in your 20's. Then as you progress, become laser focused on what areas of your skill set you need to develop, and take opportunities to strengthen the areas you are weakest. This has been very true for my life and career. In terms of the future of your role, what do you think will be the most interesting aspect/s?

Juggling so many activities, responsibilities etc on a daily basis, and being focused, so I can give my best in all I do. I feel I fall far short of that most days!
What would be the proudest or most enjoyable moment in your career?
When I was promoted to Managing Director in 2014. For a while I was not sure I’d get there. When I did I was so proud. The most enjoyable moment was celebrating my 25 year anniversary with Accenture with my family and colleagues.
What advice would you give to a woman wanting to get into a similar career or role?
Get to know your strengths, sounds obvious, really pay attention to what engages you and look for opportunities to apply your strengths.
In terms of the future of your role, what do you think will be the most interesting aspect/s?
Coaching and mentoring people. Sharing my experience and paying it forward.
